Heather Shaw grew up in Santa Cruz County, CA where she first began ballet lessons at the young age of two. She has continued dancing ever since and is trained in several dance forms including ballet, jazz, hip hop, modern and contemporary. Heather received her early training at Santa Cruz Ballet Theater, where she was a company member and trained under Robert Kelly and Diane Cypher. Classical credits include several years of The Nutcracker as well as ballets such as Swan Lake and Paquita. Heather has also been a company member of TDC of the Bay Area, where she performed in several concert performances with pieces set by esteemed choreographers such as Mark Foehringer, Heather Cooper and Jason Parsons, among others. In addition to dance, Heather is very passionate about choreography and her work has been awarded several times in the competition circuit. She also set a well received piece called “Strands of You” on UC Berkeley dancers under the guidance of Joe Goode, of San Francisco’s Joe Goode Performance Group.
Heather is also an actress and has appeared in several films, commercials, and theater performances. She completed the two year training program at The Meisner Technique Studio in San Francisco under Sanford Meisner’s last teaching protege, Jim Jarrett. Select theater credits of Heather’s include The Woolgatherer (Rose), Tape (Amy), The Music Man (Zanetta), Oklahoma!, Bye Bye Birdie and several others. She is currently workshopping the role of Christina in Adam Rapp’s Red Light Winter, to be performed later in 2015. Heather has also done voiceover work and modeling for SK Infinity music, a music artist who is consistently ranked in iTunes Top 100 for New Age music. After graduating high school at 15 years old, Heather went on to graduate from UC Berkeley at the age of 20 with a major in Philosophy and a minor in Theater/Dance Performance Studies.
In addition to dancing and acting professionally, Heather also teaches group exercise classes for prestigious gyms and studios such as Equinox, Plus One, ElliptiFit and Art of Pilates. She is passionate about helping people meet their fitness goals through sharing her love of dance and movement.
In her spare time, Heather loves hiking, yoga, reading, and going on adventure backpacking trips around the world. Her travels have taken her to India, Southeast Asia, China, Europe and beyond.
